Detroit’s Guilty Simpson toured Australia with his Sydney-based collaborator Katalyst last year. On the final day, they swung by FBi to perform the Guilty classics ‘Stress’ and ‘Blow The Horns On ‘Em’, produced by J Dilla and Madlib respectively.
Those are mighty-sized sneakers to fill but these gents aim up! They already had the recently-released Detroit’s Son album in the bag – and were busy devising new Quakers fare, developing their countless side-projects and plotting future paths.
They debut this new gear on their return to Sydney this week, so it’s an opportune moment to share this loose and laugh-filled exchange – which explores sport, sex and smoke, as much as it does music.
Renaissance men ’til the end!
